Fatal Pedestrian Accident on US 165 Near Ball

Pineville, LA – May 24, 2024
The Pineville Police Department is saddened to report a fatal accident involving a pedestrian that occurred early this morning on US 165 near the city limits of Ball.

At approximately 12:12 AM, officers responded to a call reporting that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers discovered Heather Lynn Basco, a white female born on July 13, 1987, of 5803 Clines Rd., Ball, LA, who had been walking in the middle of the roadway. Ms. Basco was wearing dark clothing, which made her difficult to see.

Despite the efforts of first responders, Ms. Basco succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and is cooperating fully with the investigation. At this time, no charges have been filed, and the investigation is ongoing.

The Pineville Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Heather Lynn Basco. We urge all pedestrians to use caution and wear visible clothing when walking at night, and remind drivers to stay alert, especially in low-light conditions.
