The deceased from the event on Wood Street has been identified as Damien McNally, 40 years old of Pineville.
The other person involved in the event is identified as Troy Johnson, 25 years old of Alexandria.
The Pineville Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident and has worked with our partners at the Rapides Parish District Attorney’s office. Upon completion of the investigation we will present the evidence to the DA’s office for grand jury consideration.

On January 1, 2023 while investigating a trespassing complaint on Effie Street patrol officers heard gunshots in the area.
Officers responded to Wood Street and observed a male laying in the street with gunshot wounds. Officers called for medical support and rendered aid to the male. The victim later died at a local hospital.
Officers took one suspect into custody that was on scene.
This is an ongoing investigation and we will not release the name of the victim until next of kin is notified.
