Assistant Chief Joe Salmon moved to the Alexandria /Pineville area in 1970. He began his career
at the Pineville Police Department in 1984 as a Police Officer. He has worked in several
divisions at the Pineville Police Department serving as a patrol officer, a patrol supervisor,
criminal investigator, executive officer and records management supervisor. He has also served
as the department’s IT Supervisor and grant writer.
He is a 1975 graduate of Bolton High School, served 4 years active duty in the United States
Marine Corps, and earned an Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Louisiana
College. He is a proud member of the Pineville Kiwanis Club.
In 1984, he moved to Pineville and married his wife Cynthia, who retired from CLECO in 2003;
they have a daughter, Kristen, who is a graduate of Northwestern State University and a son,
Joseph, who is a graduate at Northwestern State University.
